The official palace of the Kasunanan Surakarta Hadiningrat is located in the central city of Surakarta. It was founded by Sri Susuhunan Pakubuwana II around 1743–1744 as a replacement for the Kartasura Palace, which was destroyed due to the Geger Pecinan tragedy in 1743.
